The Empower Her project has been set up to provide girls aged 15 – 20 who have had their education interrupted by teenage pregnancy. The project provides the tools and knowledge they need to build their self-esteem, restore their confidence and develop skills to sustain themselves financially.
The Empower Her project has a dedicated classroom in Rubuguri equipped with manual sewing machines. To provide the tuition, teachers are contracted to provide classes in basket weaving, dress making and sewing skills.
The Empower Her project also provides seminars and tutorials, presented by successful woman as role models. This initiative is provided to illustrate options and life choices available to break the cycle of under achievement and early pregnancy.
